Khanh T.L. Tran started her writing career in the fifth grade, when she handled the kindergarten beat for her elementary school’s newspaper.


As a freelance features writer, she’s contributed to digital and print media such as The Los Angeles Times, Studio Gannett’s magazines in the USA Today network, The Hollywood Reporter, C Magazine and The Chicago Reader. For over a decade, she wrote about fashion, art and music for Women’s Wear Daily in Los Angeles. From this position, she was quoted as a fashion authority by The Associated Press and other publications. She previously covered video games for The Wall Street Journal in San Francisco.


She received a Bachelor’s degree in comparative literature from the College of William & Mary as well as a Master’s in journalism from the University of California at Berkeley. She was also a Fulbright scholar in Japan. She lives in L.A. with her husband and daughter.
