Khanh T.L. Tran started her writing career in the fifth grade, when she handled the kindergarten beat for her elementary school’s newspaper.


As a freelance features writer, she’s contributed to digital and print media such as USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, Hollywood Reporter, Chicago Reader and Beauty Independent. For over a decade, she wrote about fashion, culture and business for Women’s Wear Daily in Los Angeles. While at WWD, she was quoted as a fashion authority by the Associated Press and other publications. She previously covered video games for the Wall Street Journal in San Francisco.


She received a Bachelor’s degree in comparative literature from the College of William & Mary as well as a Master’s in journalism from the University of California at Berkeley. She was also a Fulbright scholar in Japan. She lives in L.A. with her husband and daughter.
